Mitsubishi julkaisi eilen tiedotteen viikonlopun siirtolento-ongelmiin liittyen. Vika ei ollut itse ilmastointijärjestelmässä, vaan vasemman puolen järjestelmää valvovissa antureissa.

 

The flight tests of the first test aircraft of the MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet) carried out on August 27 and 28 were aborted when anomalies were detected in the signals generated by sensors monitoring air management systems.

 

Two air management systems, left and right, are installed in the aircraft, and in these events, a malfunction was detected in sensors monitoring the air management systems on the left side.

 

The air management systems operated properly during the flights, however, considering that the long flights are to the United States, the decision was made to take all possible measures to fly the MRJ in a perfect condition.

 

We will work with related parties to promptly move forward with the ferry flight, after completing the inspection and necessary measures.

MRJ-ohjelman ensimmäinen koelentoyksilö on nyt päässyt matkalle kohti Yhdysvaltoja. Siirtolento Moses Lakeen suoritetaan useissa pätkissä ja siihen kuluu vähintään 4 päivää, ehkä viikon verran.

 

Mitsubishi tells FlightGlobal that FTA-1 took off from Nagoya at 13:28 local time on 26 September, landing around 1.5 hours later at Sapporo Shin Chitose airport.

 

One day later, it took off from Shin Chitose at 9:23 local time, arriving at Yelizovo, Russia around 2.5 hours later.

 

Mitsubishi says that the ferry flight is expected to take around one week, or potentially as short as four days.

 

Further details on the ferry flight will be released once FTA-1 the aircraft arrives at Moses Lake, the manufacturer adds.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. announced a fifth delay in handing over Japan’s first locally made passenger jet to airlines and about a 30 percent jump in development costs, raising concerns about winning new orders for the single-aisle plane.

 

Launch customer ANA Holdings Inc. will get the jet in 2020, two years later than the current estimate, Mitsubishi said in Tokyo Monday. St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Inc. is the plane’s biggest customer. Revision of some electrical configuration to meet certification requirements prompted the latest pushback of the deadline.

 

Mitsubishi Aircraft, a subsidiary of the conglomerate, has 447 orders for the plane, including options and purchase rights. ANA, the operator of Japan’s biggest airline, said it was “disappointed” at this latest delay, but will continue to support the development of the jet as its launch customer.

 

“We remain confident of the benefits the MRJ will bring to the ANA fleet in terms of performance and passenger comfort,” the carrier said in an e-mail statement. It has 25 of the planes on order, including options.

 

SkyWest has an order for 200 planes including options. The plane builder also has as many as 100 orders from Trans States Airlines Inc., also based in the U.S.

"One of the ground-handling vehicles struck the radome of our aircraft after landing. There was a lot of repositioning of the aircraft," says Bellamy. "There was a significant impact to the radome... There was a penetration through the radome, almost like a crack in the radome. There were witness marks of the paint from the vehicle on the radome itself."

The Japanese airframer is in the process of deciding whether to pull a replacement radome for FTA-3 from a test aircraft based in Nagoya or at Moses Lake in the US state of Washington.

Bombardier filed the lawsuit late Friday in a federal court in Seattle against Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, Seattle-based Aerospace Testing Engineering & Certification Inc (AeroTEC) and several former Bombardier employees.

AeroTEC is working with Mitsubishi Aircraft to help it get the 90-seat passenger jet certified by regulators.
