Air France-KLM:n uusi johtaja valittu, liitot miettivät strategiaa

Lakkopaineissa eronneen AF-KL-ryhmän tj:n Jean-Marc Janaillacin tilalle on vihdoin 3 kk etsimisen jälkeen löytynyt uusi johtajaehdokas, Benjamin Smith, jonka nimestä pystyy jo päättelemään, että hän ei ole Ranskan kansalainen vaan (entinen) Air Canadan presidentti ja COO. Kansalaisuudesta voi jo syntyä ensimmäinen riita, koska Smith olisi ensimmäinen ei-ranskalainen yhtiön johdossa.. Seuraava riita voi syntyä Smithin palkasta (peruspalkka 900000 € vuodessa ja mahdolliset bonukset 122% peruspalkasta, jos päästään suoritetavoitteisiin ja maksimissaan 150 % jos tavoitteet ylitetään).

Ammattiliitot aikovatkin kokoontua miettimään strategiaansa palkkavaatimusten suhteen 27. elokuuta. Uudet lakot eivät ole poissuljettuja. Smithin on tarkoitus aloittaa syyskuun lopussa.

The revelation that the group’s board had decided to increase the CEO’s fixed salary to reflect Smith’s international experience, his salary at Air Canada and higher salaries for comparable posts outside France has sparked outrage among unions already skeptical over the choice of the first non-French national to head the group.

Air Francessa tuntuu kuohuvan edelleen. Pelkän Air Francen toimitusjohtaja Franck Terner on eronnut, joten vastavalittu Group CEO Ben Smith johtaa nyt myös Air Francea (ja AF/KL Groupia) ainakin vuoden loppuun asti.

Air France CEO Franck Terner resigned Sept. 27, leaving the new Air France-KLM Group CEO running both companies.

Ben Smith, a former Air Canada executive who became Air France-KLM Group CEO Sept. 17, will also head Air France, but until no later than Dec. 31, the company said.

While Terner’s departure under new management was not a complete industry surprise, the suddenness of it means more turmoil for an airline that is locked in a long-running dispute with its unions over salaries, a dispute that led to the resignation of the group’s former CEO in May.

Ben Smithin tehtäväksi tulee nyt löytää Air Francelle lyhyen ja keskipitkän tähtäyksen visio, ratkaista palkkaongelmat ja uusia yhtiön hallintostrategia.

Air France/KLM:n liitot ovat ehkä hieman yllättäen taipuneet 5 % palkankorotusvaatimuksistaan takautuvasti vuosille 2012-2017 ja solmineet sopimukset, joiden mukaan palkkoja korotetaan takautuvasti tämän vuoden tammikuusta lukien 2 % ja samoin 2 % ensi vuoden tammikuussa. Sopimukset nähdään luottamuslauseena uudelle johtajalle Ben Smithille.

Five unions representing 76.4 percent of the personnel accepted management's offer of a four-percent pay rise to be spread over 2018 and 2019, the two sides announced.

Under the final deal, workers will receive a two-percent increase for 2018, retroactive to the start of the year, and a further two-percent increase in January 2019.

They had been demanding a 5.1 percent pay hike for the 2012-2017 period.

Farid Slimai, a spokesman for the Unsa-Sol union which represents ground personnel, said the unions finally accepted management's offer as an "act of confidence aimed at Ben Smith" and to help the airline "move on and look to the future.".

Air France said on Friday it had reached a pay agreement for 2019 with unions representing ground staff, as it seeks to move on from labor disputes which weighed on its results last year.
The deal will provide for pay increases of 1.8 percent, as well as money to finance individual bonuses and measures to make the payment of overtime easier,

On Thursday Air France announced the signing of a new agreement with cabin crew.
“Together with yesterday’s signing of the agreement with Air France cabin crew, this is proof of our dedication to re-establishing trust with all Air France employees,” Smith said in a statement.
The agreements come in addition to an agreement signed in October that drew a line under the standoff with unions. That deal provided for an increase of 2 percent for 2019 for all Air France employees.

Hollanti ilmoitti ostavansa yli kymmenen prosentin osuuden voidakseen vaikuttaa ranskalaishollantilaisen lentoyhtiön tulevaisuuteen paremmin.

Hollannin liikenneministeri sanoi kaupan tarkoituksena olevan nimenomaisesti sen, että maan hallitus voi vaikuttaa suoraan lentoyhtiön kehitykseen. Ranskan hallitus vastasi kauppaan julistaen, että lentoyhtiön pitää sada toimi vapaasti ilman valtioiden vaikutusta sen liiketoimintaan. Ranskan hallitukselle ei ilmoitettu ostoaikeista missään vaiheessa.
