Intialainen IndiGo on tilannut ennätykselliset 500 Airbus A320-perheen konetta ja IndiGolla on nyt yhteensä 1330 tilausta Airbusilta. Koneiden toimitukset yltävät aina vuoteen 2035 asti.

Indian carrier IndiGo has made a record order for 500 Airbus A320 aircraft - the largest single purchase agreement by any airline in commercial aviation history.

The deal, announced on the first day of the Paris Airshow, is worth roughly $55bn (£43bn) before any bulk-order discounts.

IndiGo now has an order book of 1,330 aircraft with Airbus.

It is expected to mean a stream of deliveries between 2030 and 2035.

The new deliveries will help budget carrier IndiGo lower its operating costs and improve fuel efficiency, the company says.

Air India on vahvistanut 470 koneen tilauksensa Airbusilta ja Boeingilta sitovaksi tilaukseksi.

India dominated the Paris Airshow for a second day on Tuesday, as Air India finalised a huge order for 470 planes from Airbus and Boeing.

The agreement, when sketched out in February, was the largest ever plane deal by number of aircraft. But it was surpassed on day one of the Paris show by Indian rival IndiGo's order for 500 Airbus narrowbody jets.

Finalising the deal puts it in the aerospace industry's order backlogs as firm orders. Until now, it was only a preliminary deal
